Who should not receive shockwave therapy?

Treatment may not be appropriate over or near:

  • An active tumour or suspected cancer
  • An active infection or open wound
  • A current blood clot or significant clotting disorder
  • Certain nerves, blood vessels, lungs or other sensitive structures
  • Areas with severely impaired sensation or circulation
  • The abdomen or pelvis during pregnancy

Please tell your provider if you are pregnant, take anticoagulants or other medications affecting bleeding, recently received an injection in the area, have a pacemaker or implanted device, or have any significant medical condition. Do not stop prescribed medication unless instructed by the prescribing professional.
